About Us
Cope Land is a genre-bending band from Montreal, Canada, creating music that is exciting, original and varied. Led by guitarist Ben Copland Gilbert, this bilingual group fuses alternative and progressive rock with rap, jazz and metal, sounding powerful and virtuosic both in performance and on recordings. After a brief hiatus, Cope Land is back better than ever with a new hyper focused quintet ensemble, focused on performing it’s most exciting and upbeat material in concert. Virtuosic Electric Trombone rips through the driving rhythms of the band, supported by ambient lush synths, while Abigail Galwey’s vocals, sometimes angelic, sometimes bluesy and dripping in attitude, team up with the frontman’s rapid-fire rap to lead the charge. Formerly known as Crossroad Copeland, they enjoyed many successes, most notably a main stage performance at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and performances supporting the legendary Dweezil Zappa, as well as up and coming british band Maruja. The band released their second album, “Expire”, on February 14, 2025.
