About Us

Crossroad Copeland is the original music project of Montreal guitarist/composer Ben Copland Gilbert. In this project, jazz, metal, alternative rock, and rap are woven together to create music that at times pulverizes, but also sometimes soothes and comforts. The unique way the instrumentation is used ensures sounds and textures that you’ve rarely heard before that is as diverse as it is homogeneous. Formed mostly by graduates that attended the McGill Schulich School of Music’s jazz program, they jelled as a band in the second half of the covid 19 pandemic, eventually going into the studio in august 2021. This led to the band releasing their debut full length album Cope Land last January 20th, 2023, which received considerable media attention and positive reviews. They recently had the honor of playing on the main stage of the Festival International de jazz de Montréal in July 2023, as well as the Quebec Jazz en Juin festival and Toronto’s TUJF.  A second album, composed entirely of vocal music, half in english, half in french, is due in fall 2024.
